冗談をさておき、麻薬戦争というのは重くて深いテーマだ。この作品の中、今の時代そして麻薬問題をいろんな形で表現した。アメリカとメキシコの間に国境がと同じく、善と悪の間にボーダーラインもある。悪を退治するため、自分自身も越境して悪に染めらなくてはいけない。この境地を表したのように、国境を貫通する地下トンネルは暗く狭く、息苦しい。しかしそれが我々が通らなくてはいけない道だという。正義感の強い主人公にとって、このポリシーもなく、武力に頼る手段では、果たして本当に正解なのか。この苦境は、麻薬だけではない。民族・宗教・戦争、我々の身近く存在する問題と紛争も、こうしてすべて解決するはずがない。

Antoine Fuquaの作品をいくつ見てきて(Olympus has fallen, The equalizerとか)、アクションを取るのにものすごく上手いのに、社会問題や政治問題に手を出しがちという。メッセージ性とかどうでもいいからちゃんとアクション映画作れや。。とか思ってしまう。Shooterはまさにこのような映画で、一見真剣に正義とか、愛国心とか言いたいことあるようだが、根本的にリアリティに欠けるので、見てるうちにいまいち「映画だな」と感じている。逆にThe equalizerみたいにスカッとするような架空ストーリーは大好き。

Waking up from a car accident, a young woman finds herself in the basement of a man who says he's saved her life from a chemical attack that has left the outside uninhabitable.
話のベースとなる設定はグチャグチャだけと、それを深く考えずに、リラックスしながら見るのか一番良いでしょう。もしろその方が色々楽しめる。
なぜかというと、目の前に起きている「映像」に対して、時にそれを信じるように暗示をかけたり、時にそれを疑えと促したり、監督のコントロールはとにかく半端ない。もちろんそれは、観客と主人公の主観を同期させるための技に間違いない。
見どころをまとめると、こうな感じでしょう：

アメリカ映画というより、どこにでもあるような発展途上国におけるお馬鹿さん映画。１回見るだけてスタッフの工夫を全部解読できるぐらいにペラペラ。
典型的な体育系人間がメインで手掛けたような作りで、なんと監督はイラン出身。。。どう褒めたら良いのか。。さっさとシャワーして寝たろ！（快去洗洗睡吧！）

撮影も演出も、監督のこだわりがよく伝わります。かといってイニャリトゥ監督は2年連続受賞するほどすごい監督なのかな〜。バードマンは本当に好きですが、本作はピンとこなかったので、チャンスあれば再鑑賞したいです。(しないけど、多分。。。
