Earl Stone, a man in his 80s who is broke, alone, and facing foreclosure of his business when he is offered a job that simply requires him to drive. Easy enough, but, unbeknownst to Earl, he’s just signed on as a drug courier for a Mexican cartel. He does so well that his cargo increases exponentially, and Earl hit the radar of hard-charging DEA agent Colin Bates.
A marksman living in exile is coaxed back into action after learning of a plot to kill the president. Ultimately double-crossed and framed for the attempt, he goes on the run to track the real killer and find out who exactly set him up, and why.
Antoine Fuquaの作品をいくつ見てきて(Olympus has fallen, The equalizerとか)、アクションを取るのにものすごく上手いのに、社会問題や政治問題に手を出しがちという。メッセージ性とかどうでもいいからちゃんとアクション映画作れや。。とか思ってしまう。Shooterはまさにこのような映画で、一見真剣に正義とか、愛国心とか言いたいことあるようだが、根本的にリアリティに欠けるので、見てるうちにいまいち「映画だな」と感じている。逆にThe equalizerみたいにスカッとするような架空ストーリーは大好き。
