いい作品は、豊富な創作欲の元、名作に対する模倣を超えて名作そのものになる。そういった比較をすればするほど、監督の凄さがわかってくる。
エンディングについて異論と疑問もたくさん聞くが、私はこれがディミアン・チャゼルが本当に表現したかった、「コア」となるものかと思っている。何がストーリーで何が現実なのか、「ストーリー」の中の現実とストーリーの関係を通じて表現している。本当に素晴らしい「ストーリーテリング」だ！

冗談をさておき、麻薬戦争というのは重くて深いテーマだ。この作品の中、今の時代そして麻薬問題をいろんな形で表現した。アメリカとメキシコの間に国境がと同じく、善と悪の間にボーダーラインもある。悪を退治するため、自分自身も越境して悪に染めらなくてはいけない。この境地を表したのように、国境を貫通する地下トンネルは暗く狭く、息苦しい。しかしそれが我々が通らなくてはいけない道だという。正義感の強い主人公にとって、このポリシーもなく、武力に頼る手段では、果たして本当に正解なのか。この苦境は、麻薬だけではない。民族・宗教・戦争、我々の身近く存在する問題と紛争も、こうしてすべて解決するはずがない。

Antoine Fuquaの作品をいくつ見てきて(Olympus has fallen, The equalizerとか)、アクションを取るのにものすごく上手いのに、社会問題や政治問題に手を出しがちという。メッセージ性とかどうでもいいからちゃんとアクション映画作れや。。とか思ってしまう。Shooterはまさにこのような映画で、一見真剣に正義とか、愛国心とか言いたいことあるようだが、根本的にリアリティに欠けるので、見てるうちにいまいち「映画だな」と感じている。逆にThe equalizerみたいにスカッとするような架空ストーリーは大好き。
次の作品、どうでしょう。7人の侍から復習しようか

oh、ちなみにMichael Penaの間抜けキャラ最高に楽しくてよかったね
